Joy founded the company specifically to provide a fresh approach to HR support based on her corporate background as a Group HR Director. Joy’s daughter, a former Employment Law Solicitor, joined the company a couple of years later and today Absolute Works is a team of 17 HR professionals helping businesses large and small.

The Absolute Works story began in 2011, when Joy May founded the company with a commitment to taking a fresh approach to HR support for SMEs. Joy envisaged HR that would be built around excellent customer service and helping SMEs to maximise their profits.

Amy Martin

In late 2013, Amy Martin, a former employment law solicitor, joined Joy at Absolute Works, bringing with her a wealth of legal knowledge and management experience. She spent nine years practicing in a variety of legal fields, most recently employment law. She is CIPD qualified and an associate member of CIPD, and her arrival marked a period of rapid expansion for Absolute Works.


HR outsourcing has grown by an average of 1.4% per annum over the last 5 years and is now an £800m industry. There are over 5.7 million SME’s in the UK employing less than 250 staff and all businesses and organisations need to be up to date to deal effectively with their HR and day to day staff issues.

When you join Absolute Works you’ll provide the expertise to those companies who can’t justify a full time HR Manager. The majority of small employers are under resourced in this area or simply do not have the time or the skill set required.

Your previous HR and business experience is valued by our clients and ideally you’ll be CIPD qualified. What you might not be able to provide to a client right now can be provided by our Head Office until any experience gaps have been addressed to enable you to complete more work directly.

Working from a home base, in flexible hours, you’ll head up an exclusive area of the country and enjoy the added security of a proven business model with significant back office support provided by a successful and established team.
